Impacts of Employee Empowerment and Organizational Commitment on Workforce Sustainability

Building and maintaining a sustainable workforce in the hospitality sector, where demand for talent consistently exceeds supply across globe, has only been exacerbated by COVID-19. The need to sustain this behooves industry unpack core drivers of employee commitment order retain top talent. This paper explores how dimensions empowerment increase organizational and, turn, reduce turnover intention—leading more sustained workforce. Drawing on results 346 surveys within Canadian lodging industry, structural equation modeling was undertaken examine influence commitments intention. Findings suggest that development meaning through empowerment, particularly when ideals standards between workers their organization are aligned, creates strong emotional which appears strongly an employee’s intention leave. Feelings connection or duty towards show clear positive relationships with reduced intentions For struggling higher-than-average labour costs, focusing creating work meaning, instilling sense belonging will enable organizations intentions.
